Recycling Education Station Wins State Award
Metro Beautification's Recycling Education Station and recycling program was presented with the TDOT/Keep Tennessee Beautiful Award of Excellence for K-8 Education at the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT)/Keep Tennessee Beautiful (KTnB) 2009 Biennial State Conference in February.
TDOT Commissioner Gerald F. Nicely was on hand to present the Award of Excellence plaque and a $1,000 grant check to Metro Beautification.

Russell Brecheen, Chair of the Metro Beautification & Environment Commission and District 27 Commissioner, always has a smile on his face and never meets a stranger. He has a desire to keep his district clean, safe and beautiful and to encourage and help others to do so across Davidson County in order to keep our great City of Nashville, TN clean and attractive to those who live, work and visit here. He is a volunteer who shows exceptional leadership in raising public awareness about litter prevention, roadside and community beautification, solid waste issues and the need for citizens to participate in activities that preserve and enhance natural resources and public lands. clean and beautiful, the Metro Beautification and Environment
Commission (MBEC) has named former Davidson County Property
Assessor JoAnn North the inaugural winner of the Ann Chapman
Legacy Award. The award was presented by Veronica Frazier,
Metro Beautification Executive Director and Chairman Russell
Brecheen on Tuesday, September 23, at a reception held to thank
