How Do You Know the Data is Right?
Metro Government has invested significant resources to assure that reported data is accurate and consistently reported, and can therefore be trusted for decision-making. Beginning in FY2004, the Performance Measurement Certification (PMC) effort reviewed the source data behind all “key result” measures from departmental strategic business plans to validate the reported data. These reviews checked to ensure the data was collected correctly; the result was calculated correctly; and that the result measure is consistent from year to year.
For FY2006, the PMC process reviewed 256 key results from 19 departments; each of those departments appears in this report. Those key results represented approximately $450 million in budgeted program expenses for FY2006; the PMC process was able to certify 82% of those 156 key results, representing $347 million.
