Davidson Group
What Is the Davidson Group?
The Davidson Group developed as an initiative of Nashville Agenda’s Steering Committee for the purpose of promoting better race relations. Participants were recruited and paired by ethnic and cultural differences to promote understanding and foster awareness within our diverse city. In 2005 the Davidson group was transferred to the metro Human Relations Commission.
Still, the mission of the Davidson Group is to recognize the diversity of Nashville by promoting dialogue and interaction between individuals from different backgrounds by providing opportunities to build one on one informal relationships which allow people to learn about others.
Currently, over 400 business, civic and community leaders are engaged in the program. These participants meet as pairs and small groups (sets of pairs) to share and explore differences while discovering common ground. Partners arrange to meet per their availability and small groups meet quarterly.
The work of Davidson Group participants will help determine the future of Nashville; the Metro Human Relations Commission is here to support their efforts. Together our vision is to understand and embrace the diversity of Nashville so that the ideal of “one city all people” can be realized.
