Mayor's First Day Festival 2009

The 10th Annual Mayor's First Day Festival will be held Sunday, August 9, 2009 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Sommet Center (formerly the Nashville Arena) in Downtown Nashville. It will be a fun-filled day of celebration of our schools, children and parents.
Donate to the Festival
The First Day effort has more than 30 sponsors that annually commit to the success of the Festival as an event that is truly unique to Nashville. If you'd like more information on sponsoring the event, please contact Etta Bell, education program manager for the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, at 615-743-3153 or ebell@nashvillechamber.com.
Host an Activity Booth!
Each year, the Festival draws more than 20,000 people downtown for educational activities, entertainment and free school supplies. Because First Day is truly a community event, there is no cost for the booth, but all booths are required to be educational, matching the theme of the event and appropriate for students. THE FESTIVAL IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING BOOTH APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2009 EVENT.
Volunteer at the Festival
Some of Nashville's leading companies and organizations recruit 10- to 20-person volunteer teams for event volunteer tasks. Your organization can choose from one of many task categories, including crowd management, backpack distribution, entertainment coordinators, vendor load-in/load-out and hospitality. First Day staff will train the team to perform that task.
