WPNC Environmental Education Programs
The Nature Center offers a variety of programs for both children and adults. Almost all of our programs are free of charge. Our programs are very popular and tend to fill up quickly. Pre-registration for programs is required and can be done by calling the Nature Center at (615) 352-6299 during the posted registration periods.
To help people of all ages enjoy the beauty and wonder of the Warner Parks, the Nature Center offers a variety of programs tailored for all ages.
- Preschoolers
(ages 3-5) These programs are designed specifically for young children
who are just beginning to develop their innate curiosity for the natural
world. We combine the exercise of sensory and motor skills with age-appropriate
lessons in nature to create programs that are both fun and educational
for this extremely receptive age group.
- School-aged
Children (ages 6-12) For children who have already been introduced
to the skills involved in formal learning, we offer these programs that
focus on specific themes in nature. Through hands-on exploration and
first-hand experience, children discover the intricacies, as well as
the beauty, of the natural world.
- Adults
(ages 13 and up) For park visitors who are looking for programs
that address natural history topics in an adult manner, these programs
incorporate enjoyable outdoor experiences with meaningful interpretation.
- Families
(all ages) These programs are fun, friendly, informal gatherings
where children and adults of all ages can celebrate the wonder and beauty
of nature. Topics are often very general, but there is always something
of interest for everyone.
- Special Age-specific Programs Frequently, the Nature Center offers programs targeted for very specific age groups. These activities vary widely in content and age-appropriateness. From outdoor adventures for teen-agers, to stroller hikes for toddlers (and parents), to Grandparent hikes for seniors, these programs reach out to a variety of outdoor enthusiasts.
