Program Description
The Nutrition Program for Senior Adults promotes and maintains the health and well being of persons sixty years of age and older through the provision of a daily low-cost, nutritional and satisfying noon day meal served in congregate settings or delivered to the home. Meals contain at least one-third of the daily allowance established by nutritional authorities.
The MSS Senior Nutrition Program is a member of the Meals On Wheels Association of America, an organization that provides publications on nutrition-related issues to legislative actions on Capitol Hill. A networking association, MOWAA has regional, state and national conferences bringing members together to provide a positive difference in the programs of its members.
Eligibility
Congregate Meals
- 60 and older and their spouses, regardless of their age
- Those who enjoy the company of others

Those who are unable to select and prepare nourishing and well balanced meals
Homemakers Meal Delivery
- 60 and older and their spouses regardless of age
- unable to select and prepare nourishing and well balanced meals
- limited mobility and cannot shop or cook
- cannot drive to restaurants/shops for food
- can no longer afford to eat as well as they once did
- Referral from a doctor's office, home health nurse or social worker
Services Provided
Congregate
Meal Sites
Open 4½ hours a day, Monday through Friday and provide
- Meals in a group setting of senior adults
- Activities for fun, fitness and fellowship at the sites
- Nutrition Education provided monthly
- Transportation to some meal sites
Home Delivered Meals
- Meals delivered to those confined to their home
- Nutrition Education provided monthly
- Noonday meals provided Monday through Friday
