NOTICE... The summary of submittal requirements for variance requests to the Metro Stormwater Management committee have been updated (criteria 12-15 added, which relate to applicants outlining their respective site hardship(s) requiring a variance). Click HERE to view requirements.
NOTICE... In an effort to provide a platform by which entities within the Metro development community can facilitate the efficient and effective management/placement of land disturbance-related fill materials (soil and/or rock), Metro Water Services Stormwater Management Section is launching a "Nashville Soil Trader" website.
This site will allow the posting of information about any soil and/or rock that an entity wishes to either make available to or receive from others. The "exchange" of this material will be entirely orchestrated by and the responsibility of the involved parties who are endeavoring to arrange a deal - not Metro. Metro assumes no liability in association with this web site and has no involvement whatsoever with the exchange process. We will initially screen each listing submittal for appropriateness and remove listings as requested by the original submitter (emails requesting that a posting be deleted should be sent to dale.binder@nashville.gov).
Metro staff will be evaluating this platform over the coming weeks to determine if it is a worthwhile endeavor and whether it should be continued.
Please remember that project sites either placing or removing more than 100 cu. yds. of fill material, require a Metro Grading Permit. Also, fill material shall not contain any material that would be considered to be trash, refuse, demolition/disposal materials, or any other type of waste material.
We would like to thank the City of Portland, Oregon for their technical input relating to this initiative.
NOTICE... Per Metro Permit obligations to State/Federal entities, page 68 of Volume 1 of the Stormwater Management Manual has been updated to reflect recent changes in State regulations (that necessitates revision of our Manual). The change relates to the fact that the site size that requires a TDEC/State general construction permit decreased from 5 acres to 1 acre in March of 2003. Metro is required by the State to verify coverage under this permit before any site is issued a Grading Permit.
NOTICE... In an effort to better communicate (earlier in the process) the information that our office needs in order to schedule a project for a pre construction meeting, we've formulated a "Pre Con Application Form" that will be given out to customers when they initially submit their Grading Permit application to our Plans Review Section. It is also on our web site HERE. This form will serve to provide applicants with a summary listing of the information they should be pursuing/collecting while their plans are being reviewed. The applicant should fax this short form to our office once it is completed.
NOTICE... Information relating to Metro's Grading Permit is now posted here. This document summarizes the Grading Permit Process (as taken from Vol. 1 of the Stormwater Management Manual) relating to what activity requires a Grading Permit, how to apply, the issuance process, exemptions, variances enforcement, etc.
NOTICE... An overview of the revised Metro floodplain/buffer regulations (August 4, 2003)has been posted (Metro Floodplain/Buffer Regulation Information). This version includes changes brought about by the recent amendment of the following Metro floodplain regulation -"SUBSTITUTE ORDINANCE NO. BL2002-1021 A substitute ordinance amending Title 17 of the Metropolitan Code, zoning regulations, by amending Section 17.28.040 Floodplain/floodway development standards by providing new restrictions on development in floodplains and floodways, all of which is more particularly described herein (Proposal No. 2002Z-019T)."
