Metro Animal Care and Control works with individuals and organizations across Nashville to help domestic animals find caring homes, decrease over-population of cats and dogs through spaying and neutering, support widespread rabies vaccinations, and promote responsible pet ownership.
We are much more than just an animal shelter. We are a place where dedicated professionals and volunteers share their commitment, their talent, and their enthusiasm to help the animals and people of Nashville-Davidson County.
We have many opportunities in which volunteers can participate to help meet the mission of MACC. Volunteers can participate in dog walking, playgroups, and enrichment, socializing with our adoptable cats and kittens, assisting with offsite and special events around Nashville, animal photography, and promoting our adoptable pets.
We are focused on building a community passionate about animal welfare, and we can’t wait for you to join us!

Age Requirements for Volunteering
Under 12 years old: We encourage our youngest fans to help the shelter through at home project opportunities. Including: donation drives, making dog treat bags, and making cat mats.
Please email the Volunteer Coordinator if you are interested in learning more about these projects.
Ages 12-15: We encourage these youth volunteers to come along with a parent or guardian to the shelter. These teens will work as a team with their adult partner, together at all times, and will be able to participate in many of the projects and jobs here.
Ages 16-17: Our teen volunteers are approved to volunteer in any capacity (without an adult partner). They simply require a parent or guardian’s sign-off before volunteering.
