Considerations when choosing a GI Bill benefit
Before selecting the VA education benefit best suited for a specific individual, these questions
should be considered:
- Which benefit pays the individual more?
- Is s/he receiving other aid and will that entitlement change?
- What Post-9/11 GI Bill tier is the person eligible for?
- How much, if any, of the training will be online/distance learning?
- Where will the training take place?
- Is the time limit to utilize benefits important?
- Is the individual a member of the Armed Forces or a Veteran?
- Is s/he eligible for Transfer of Entitlement? Does s/he want to transfer entitlement?
If you have more specific questions about your eligibility or entitlement to VA Education benefits, please call the VA Education Department at 888-442-4551.
