Metro Parks Outdoor Instructor/Trainer Policies
All Instructors who wish to train clients at Metro Parks Outdoor Facilities must meet the following requirements.
Trainer / Instructor Using Outdoor Facilities Procedure
- Outdoor fitness permit term will be 4/1 - 3/31 for each calendar year.
- The $250 per park fee will not be discounted if started after 4/1.
- Complete a Outdoor Fitness permit application (Updated 2023).
- Submit the following credentials (required to keep up to date through permit term):
- Valid certification by an NCCA accredited organization/Valid certification for yoga from a registered Yoga Alliance school (minimum 200 hours)
- Valid CPR Certification
- Valid Certificate of liability Insurance for $1 million indemnifying/listing Metropolitan Government as additional insured
- Valid Driver's License
- Submit theBackground Check form
- Pay $63 background check fee to Metro Nashville Parks to process approved background check
- Sign finalized outdoor fitness permit application
- Pay the annual fee of $250 per park (subject to change) once paperwork is approved
- Pay commission monthly due by the 10th of the following month and submit associated roster information with each payment. If the fee is paid after the 10th day of the following month, a late fee will be charged. Sole Proprietors must pay 20% of gross sales. Businesses must pay 25% of gross sales.
- Metro Parks will need a copy of previous year's audited financial statements (unless 1st year of business and no previous financials are available).
Rules
- The Trainer/Instructor will not interfere with the normal flow of Parks business. No training/instructing will be allowed during special events.
- Park structures, amenities and equipment are to be used solely for its intended purposes. Misuse is strictly prohibited.
- Any activities or conduct which results in the destruction of, damage to or removal of any park amenities (e.g. park benches, trees) is strictly prohibited.
- Follow all Metro Parks and specific facility policies and rules.
- Instructor/Trainer must obtain permit prior to offering classes/sessions.
- Metro Parks must have a copy of your driver’s license.
- List of parks and locations where you will be conducting your services.
- Schedule of events/activities: Day of week, begin/end times, start date, end date.
- Disclose fee charged to customers/participants.
- Agree to have all participants sign and complete a liability waiver prior to starting activity provided by your organization.
Client
All clients who wish to train with instructors at Metro Parks Outdoor Facilities must meet the following requirements.
- Complete and sign a liability waiver form.
- Follow all Parks facility policies and rules.
Notice
Any instructor violating policies and procedures will result in permits being revoked along with loss of privileges without being refunded. Metro Park Staff and Parks Police will be enforcing these policies.
Personal Training and Instructing at a Parks facility is a privilege. Metro Parks reserves the right to revoke all training privileges and amend rules that are in the best interest of Metro Parks operations and the public. Failure to follow the facility rules and Metro Parks’ policies will result in termination of the outdoor fitness permit and a forfeit of the permit fee.
