A Resolution honoring the life of BNA K9 Roman and her service to our city.
WHEREAS, Roman was a female Yellow Lab who served Nashville International Airport’s (BNA) Department of Public Safety from 2014 to 2020, serving alongside Officer Steven Beard as part of BNA’s K9 Explosive Detection Team whose purpose was to detect explosives; and
WHEREAS, K9 Officer Roman received her intensive 12-week training which focused on bonding, socialization, and detection at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas; and
WHEREAS, Roman served with distinction and honor, having successfully scored 100% on all TSA annual evaluations and certified by the Department of Homeland Security TSA National Explosives Detection Canine Team Program; and
WHEREAS, K9 Officer Roman’s watch ended Monday April 13th, 2020, and she will be remembered as an effective, loyal, and highly valued member of the BNA family and will be deeply missed by all.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring K9 Officer Roman for her critical role in keeping millions of BNA passengers, visitors, and employees safe during her tenure.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
