Robbery a Likely Motive in South Nashville Murder of Jorge Insignares

4/16/2013

April 16, 2013

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

South Precinct detectives are pursuing leads in the murder of 62-year-old Jorge Insignares, who was found shot to death this morning in the front passenger seat of his parked white Lincoln Town Car on Jonquil Drive near Benita Drive.

The parked car was first seen by neighbors on Jonquil Drive early Monday afternoon.  A passerby this morning saw Insignares’ body.  Police were called at 7:05 a.m.

This investigation thus far has revealed that Insignares and his wife, Harriette, drove to Nashville from their Murfreesboro home at midday Monday.  Harriette Insignares told detectives that Jorge dropped her off at the front of the H & R Block office at 3977 Nolensville Pike.  He was to have joined her after parking, but never did.  Harriette Insignares arranged for a ride home.  She reported her husband missing to Rutherford County authorities this morning.

Detectives are working to identify the person(s) Insignares encountered after dropping off his wife.  The scene strongly indicates that someone other than Insignares drove the Town Car to Jonquil Drive.  Robbery may have been the motive.

Anyone seeing the white Lincoln Town Car in the area of Nolensville Pike/Elysian Fields Shopping Center in the 1 p.m. time frame Monday is urged to contact South Precinct Investigations at 862-7763 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.   Anyone with knowledge of the person responsible for Insignares’ murder is also urged to contact Crime Stoppers by phone, texting the word “CASH” along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES) or online at www.nashvillecrimestoppers.com.  Persons who contact Crime Stoppers by phone, text or Internet can remain anonymous.
