Driver Charged with Felony Vehicular Assault for Striking Pedestrian on Broadway

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The driver who struck a pedestrian on Broadway between 4th and 5th Avenues early today has been arrested on charges of felony vehicular assault, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury and failure to render aid.
          
Ryan D. Moy, 23, of Morton Grove, Illinois, was driving his 1995 Honda Accord outbound on Broadway at 1:40 a.m. when he hit Angela Riley, 25, of Decatur, Georgia.  Riley was critically injured and is being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
          
Moy fled the scene.  Witnesses recorded his license plate number which was broadcast over the police radio.  Officer Alex Moore spotted the Honda speeding on Broadway at 12th Avenue.  Officer Moore stopped Moy, who smelled of alcohol and had watery eyes.  Moy’s performance in field sobriety tasks indicated impairment.  Before going to jail, Moy was taken to General Hospital for the taking of a blood sample, which will be analyzed by the TBI Crime Laboratory for alcohol & drug content.
          
Moy was released late this morning after posting a $16,000 bond.
