Investigation Continuing into Fatal Head Injury Suffered by Cane Ridge High School Student

August 14, 2014

The investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding Monday’s fatal head injury received by 16-year-old Cane Ridge High School student Haljuer Hassan.
Officers at present believe that Hassan jumped onto the hood of a Honda Civic that was traveling in the Cane Ridge parking lot after school Monday.  The driver of the car, 17-year-old Wisam Titi, also a Cane Ridge student, applied the brakes.  Hassan came off of the hood, could not maintain his balance, fell and hit his head on the ground.  Titi fled the parking lot.
Hassan was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was removed from life support today.  Titi came to Vanderbilt late Monday afternoon and gave a statement to investigating officers.  He said that he fled because others in the parking lot told him to do so.
Fatal crash officers are continuing to gather information.  The case will be staffed with the District Attorney’s Office at the conclusion of the investigation.  No charges have been placed at present.
