A Message from Kent Oliver, Library Director
Like all of you, we're following the COVID-19 outbreak closely and taking steps to stay as safe and healthy as we can.
That's why, beginning Monday, March 16 at 6 p.m. CST, until Monday, April 6 at 9 a.m., all 21 NPL locations will close.
Our library programming, community outreach events, and meeting room reservations remain suspended until Thursday, April 16.
What This Means For You, Our Customers
If you already have library materials checked out or slated for pickup, don't worry. We are extending all pickup and return dates to Monday, April 20. And remember: NPL doesn't charge overdue fines.
In the meantime, you'll still find plenty to love in our online catalog with eBooks, eAudiobooks, and other digital resources — like free learning with Lynda.com and thousands of streaming songs, movies, and TV shows.
Nashville Public Library is ordering even more online resources to support you at this time. And we've increased the number of items you can check out through Hoopla from 10 to 15 a month.
Please Stay In Touch
We apologize for any inconvenience today's decision might cause, but we appreciate your understanding and always appreciate your support. We regret closing our doors but believe this is the most responsible course of action as we encourage customers and staff to use best practices that will shorten the run of COVID-19 in our community.
We know Nashville's library is a valued resource for so many readers and supporters. We want to resume full operations as quickly and safely as possible. To that end, we'll work closely with the Metro Nashville Health Department and the Mayor's Office and look forward to welcoming everyone back when we reopen.
Please check the public library website and social media for real-time updates on what we're doing as this situation continues.
Take care,
Kent Oliver
Director of Nashville Public Library
