The Tenprint Unit works closely with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department, Davidson County Juvenile Detention, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). This unit is responsible for comparisons of fingerprints from known individuals to fingerprints from other known individuals. In doing so, they can make identifications for living or deceased persons. They utilize the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) and Record Management System (RMS).
Other services that the Tenprint Unit provides that are not under the scope of ANAB accreditation include researching fingerprints and related data, storage and retrieval of criminal history data, record corrections, AFIS database maintenance, and providing fingerprinting services for Sexually Oriented Business Permits and MNPD employees.
