This training is for Metro Councilmembers for the Bang The Table internet communication forum. Tennessee Code Ann. § 8-44-109 allows local governments to create online communication forums for their local governing body. Earlier this year, the Metro Council adopted Ordinance No. BL2021-1051 approving the implementation plan for the Bang The Table platform to effectuate the state law.
The legislation and the plan for the forum were subsequently approved by the Tennessee Office of Open Records Counsel as required by state law. Pursuant to state law, this internet forum will be used only by the Councilmembers, but members of the public will have access to view the posts.
At this training, Councilmembers will learn about the operations of the Bang The Table platform and will be trained on the state-approved guidelines for this internet forum.
