Staff Biography
Lisa Kiss
Lisa was born in Michigan and lived there until she joined the Army in 1995. She enlisted after learning that the Army was going to let her play with explosives! Which is funny considering prior to Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) training, the most dangerous thing she had ever seen, let alone played with, was a sparkler. Lisa served 7 Honorable years as an EOD Technician and attained the rank of E-6. She spent the next decade traveling the globe ridding the world of unexploded ordnance. As a civilian contractor she spent a year in Iraq, a year in Puerto Rico and 6 months in Guam. She also took numerous contracts here in the US. While looking for employment between contracts, Lisa went to Operation Stand Down TN (a non-profit Veterans service organization here in Nashville) and was asked to interview for a current job opening. She was hired to work in the Homeless Prevention Rapid Rehousing Program (HPRP), which is the precursor to the Supportive Services for Veterans and Families (SSVF) grant which the VA funds today. In 2014, she was hired by Metro Government and is currently the Supervisor of the Davidson County Office of Veterans Services. She and two others provide Veteran's benefits guidance to the Veterans of Davidson County, TN.
Damian Barron
Damian grew up splitting time between Colorado and Arizona. He enlisted in the Army where he served as a member of the 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) at Ft. Myer, VA. He completed his service as a Sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington, DC. He returned to Arizona to attend school before working in the insurance industry. Damian’s passion to help people, and his drive to make a difference led him to a career in law enforcement as a Detective with the Major Crimes Division. A weekend trip to Nashville to visit friends was all it took to know he would eventually call middle Tennessee home. Damian is proud to bring his desire to serve to the Veterans of Davidson County.
Ross Eggebeen
Ross was born and raised in Wisconsin. He enlisted in the Army in 2004. He served six honorable years and attained the rank of Sergeant while serving with the 2nd Infantry, 3rd Infantry, and 4th Infantry Divisions and two deployments to Iraq. Upon separation from service, he quickly came to experience the challenges of transitioning. As a result of his own struggles, he developed a passion for helping Veterans and their families to overcome their own difficulties. This drive led him to serve as an assistant Veteran Service Officer in his hometown in Wisconsin. He later worked as a Supervisor for UPS occasionally visiting Nashville, which deepened his love of country music and warm weather, but never curtailed his determination to assist Veterans. For the last four years he bolstered his passion for assisting Veterans while working for the Veterans Administration (VA) in Nashville. Ross is proud and committed to bring his experience and compassion to the Veterans of Davidson County.
Everett McKeown
Everett served 13 years in the US Air Force and is a Gulf War veteran. After his enlistment he served as a paralegal in the FL Army National Guard before joining the US Army Reserves. He graduated from Barry Law School in Orlando, FL and became a US Army JAG Corps Officer, completing 3 deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He retired from the Army in 2019 and moved to the Nashville area. He has approximately 13 years experience working on Veteran disability claims. Everett is dedicated to ensuring all veterans receive the benefits they are entitled to and is committed to using his experience to assist the Veteran community of Davidson County.
