The Public Health and Safety Committee will conduct a special meeting Co-Hosted with Education Committee Chair Zulfat Suara focusing on school safety. Meeting guests will include representatives from Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), and the Nashville Fire Department (NFD). State Representatives Bob Freeman and Caleb Hemmer will also be in attendance to provide Councilmembers with updates on gun safety legislation efforts and the upcoming State Legislature Special Session on August 21, 2023.
To facilitate robust discussions for this meeting, members of the public are encouraged to submit questions or comments ahead of time using the Safe Schools and Communities: Addressing the Gun Violence Epidemic Question and Comment Form. Questions or comments from the public for the June 14, 2023 meeting must be submitted no later than 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023.
