April 5 is the due date to submit property tax relief applications and vouchers to the Office of the Metropolitan Trustee. All supporting documents must be filed before the deadline to be considered for the program.
The Tax Relief and Tax Freeze Program is designed to help homeowners age 65 and older, disabled, and disabled military veterans pay their property taxes.
Property owners age 65 and older who have a total household income that does not exceed $45,090 for Tax Freeze or $31,600 for Tax Relief are encouraged to apply. Homeowners must be 65 by December 31, 2022. In addition, veterans qualify based on their service-connected disability rating and are encouraged to apply for the program. There is no income requirement for disabled veterans.
"Davidson County has one of the most robust programs in the state with over 6,000 homeowners on the Tax Relief Program. However, as of today, over 500 participants have not returned their vouchers. We encourage all homeowners who may qualify for the program to contact our office to apply and urge property owners who have not returned their vouchers to do so before the April 5th deadline. Our goal is to keep Nashville home," said Trustee Gilmore.
