Unclaimed Property refers to unclaimed funds that originated through normal business transactions with the city of Nashville and Davidson County. Unclaimed or abandoned property includes the following examples:
- Uncashed vendor/payroll checks more than several months old
- Uncashed refunds or overpayments more than several months old
- Electronic payments returned by the bank, and belonging to owners who cannot be located
- Deposits held
- Escrow accounts no longer needed
- Miscellaneous uncashed outstanding checks more than several months old
- Tangible unclaimed or abandoned property (items other than money belonging to others).
Current Deadlines
In 2024, we will notify owners of unclaimed property only during the months of May and June.
Claim forms must be received before July 31, 2024. Any property on the list that is not claimed by that date will be transferred to the State of Tennessee Unclaimed Property Division.
To determine if you are due unclaimed property and the amount of the unclaimed property click on the Find Unclaimed Property 2024& and match your name and number to the notice received from Metro Nashville. This list is only available during Metro Nashville’s Unclaimed Property processing period: June 17 – July 31, 2024.
To claim this property, please complete the e-form titled “Unclaimed Property Claim Form” at hub.nashville.gov or by downloading the hubNashville 311 mobile app. Upload to hubNashville the required documentation which is listed below:
- A front and back copy of your driver’s license or a state issued ID card.
- A photocopy of your Social Security card.
- Proof of your address as listed on the claim form and proof of your current mailing address (ex: a driver’s license, a photocopy of a recent bill or a pay stub).
- If claiming on behalf of an estate, provide the following:
a) A photocopy of the death certificate
b) A photocopy of the will or probate documents and/or testamentary to documents authorizing claimant to act on behalf of the estate.
c) Federal Tax ID Number (FEIN)
Payment will be made to the estate care of the administrator or executor.
