On August 24, 2022, the Metro Nashville & Davidson County Community Oversight Board (COB) by an overwhelmingly majority, elected Mr. Michael Milliner as Board Chair. The COB is authorized by the Metro Charter to investigate allegations of police misconduct, issue resolution reports related to those allegations and make policy recommendations in the form of advisory reports.
Mr. Milliner was initially elected to the Board by Metro City Council on February 15, 2022, having been nominated by the Nashville Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) where he is a Subscribing Life Member.
Chairman Milliner brings with him 27 years of combined governmental experience where he had a lengthy career as a public administrator and union leader for governments and special districts. He retired from civil service in 2012 and relocated to Davidson County where he resides with his family and is active in the Nashville community.

He possesses a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, and a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration. He is also a Tennessee licensed real estate agent, Chair of the Middle Tennessee Uplift Foundation, and a Life Member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
