A complaint against Community Oversight Board (COB) member Brenda Ross was dismissed today at the Metro Board of Ethical Conduct’s Thursday afternoon meeting.
The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) filed a complaint on behalf of Metro Police officer Katelin Erhardt, alleging Ross of interfering in a police investigation at an East Nashville Mexican restaurant on a Friday night last month.
The Ethics Board voted to dismiss the complaint against Ross, stating that it didn’t rise to the level of ethical misconduct. The Ethics Board did state that if the allegations against Ross were to be true, that it would be of some concern. However, currently, there was no need for any further investigation.
The Oversight Board continues to look for ways to strengthen the relationship with Metro Police and believes strongly that this incident will in no way hinder the progress that has been made nor the progress that is to come.
The Board stands with Ross in full support and is now aware of the process that is taken when a complaint that alleges a violation of the standards of conduct by a Metro Government elected official or member of a Metro board or commission is made.
“Mrs. Ross is a valuable member of the Oversight Board, and we appreciate her service to this Board,” stated Board Chair Ashlee Davis. “She is currently out of town mourning the loss of her mother, and that is where our focus is concerning her at the moment.”
The Board asks the public to respect Ross’ privacy and send strength, prayers and support to her and her family during their time of loss.
