With the projects listed below, The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion aims to encourage the development of a more equitable, inclusive, and diverse experience for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the City of Nashville.
Budget Equity Tool FY26
This tool is designed to determine whether budget allocations advance equitable outcomes for Metro Nashville residents and employees, measure the impact of budget decisions in terms of burdens or benefits for specific communities, and overall improve performance and service delivery for each department.
Community of Practice 2022
The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion hosted a virtual convening on October 20, 2022. Our panelists engaged on topics and strategies to advance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within local government and organizations throughout Nashville and Davidson County.
Equity Dashboards
This tool was developed to help Metro departments, community groups, and organizations in identifying the major burdens some residents face in participating in Nashville’s economic, social, and civic life. There are four dashboards in total:
Davidson County Demographic Atlas
The Davidson County Demographic Atlas is a collaboration between the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Mayor’s Office of Performance Management, and Information Technology Services. The maps were created using the ArcGIS platform, which allows users to explore different indicators and geographic areas within Davidson County. Nine different indicators were selected for the atlas, and these indicators represent different entry points to understand the spatial distribution of both barriers and opportunities.
Workforce Demographics
The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strives for transparency as a way to advocate for accountability from all levels. One step we are taking is publicly releasing our racial/ethnic and gender diversity data and its relationship with employee salary. This data reveals areas of progress as well as opportunities to progress.
Newsletters
The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion has created a quarterly newsletter: Kaleidoscope. It underscores the work of our office, as well as those in our community of practice whose work is guided by anti-racist, equitable, and inclusive principles.
