The Equal Business Opportunity Program Report details efficacy of the race and gender specific equal business opportunity program. Highlights from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021 include:
- $156 million in proposed spending with black and brown owned firms; this is a $106 million or 549% increase over fiscal year 2020.
- $99 million in proposed spending with women owned firms; this is a $69 million or 233% increase over fiscal year 2020.
- 9% average proposed subcontract participation for women owned firms; this is 2% above market availability.
- 7% average proposed subcontract participation for black and brown owned firms; this is on par with availability.
In two out of three categories, Metro’s proposed participation met or exceeded market availability for both women owned and black/brown owned firms. This includes construction, which is the largest single category of Metro spend.
