Mayor John Cooper will join Jewish community leaders, city officials, and other local faith leaders to celebrate the start of Hanukkah during the 2019 Menorah Lighting Ceremony. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. in the Mezzanine located on the second floor of the Historic Courthouse. This event is open to the public.
Rabbi Yitzchok Tiechtel of Chabad of Nashville will provide a brief history of the menorah, Hanukkah and the significance of the ceremony.
The menorah will not be lit until the first day of Hanukkah, which is on December 22. The menorah is on a timer, and each candle will light in accordance to each day of Hanukkah. This will be the 16th Menorah Lighting Ceremony with the Mayor’s Office.
