It is both my privilege and pleasure to welcome you to the Metropolitan Action Commission web page. I hope you will find the information helpful in understanding our services as well as providing opportunities for how you might volunteer. On that note, last year volunteers provided more than 1 million dollars worth of volunteer hours to our agency.
In recent years Metropolitan Action Commission has had the same goals of providing exemplary service to our customers; employing well trained and dedicated staff that cares about our customers; and being good stewards of the public trust in all we do. Our goal simply is to be an organization of excellence.
Although we are often referred to as a Social Service Agency, that distinction is not entirely correct. The Metropolitan Action Commission was established as and remains a Community Action Agency, focused on anti-poverty initiatives. Our primary responsibility is to assist residents of our county in moving out of poverty through the various programs we administer. Through the hard work of over 300 staff we assist children and families, elderly and disabled individuals to have a better quality of life. We hope you will take the opportunity to learn more about us.
In closing Iād like to share our mission with you, which is also our promise to our customers along with our vision of helping our families become more economically secure. I invite you to join with us and our other partners in carrying out our commitment to families in poverty.
Our Mission: Community Action Changes peoples lives, embodies a spirit of hope and makes Nashville and Davidson County a better place to live. We care about the entire community and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other. Our Vision: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty in our Community-One child, one person, one family at a time.
Best regards,
Dr. Cynthia Croom
