Saturday, September 16 will be the last day that Davidson County residents can apply for help with housing and utility payment assistance programs until the new program year resumes on October 1.
“During this pause our team members will be working to ensure all existing applications are processed for the current program year by the grant deadline, which is at the end of the month,” said Lisa McCrady, MAC Director of Communications.
Metro Action’s customer care is open Monday through Friday and accepts applications daily from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. However the agency will offer a weekend option on Saturday, September 16 from 9am until 12 noon at the the main office located at 800 2nd Avenue, North.
The agency will resume accepting new applications beginning October 1.
“Residents who are experiencing emergencies, such as possible utility disconnection, eviction or other urgent assistance should continue to reach out to the agency during this pause. Customers should come in person to apply for urgent matters.
Metro Action receives funding from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency and the Tennessee Department of Human Services to provide payment assistance to income eligible Davidson County residents.
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) grant allows MAC to assist income eligible residents with heating and cooling expenses. The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) helps with water and wastewater/sewer payments. The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) allows the agency to assist with rent and mortgage payments, utility and rental deposits, prescription payment help, property taxes and other services for individuals and families.
