Records Management is a division of the Metropolitan Clerk - the official recordkeeping agency of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. To this service, Records Management follows best-practice standards circulated amongst all governmental agencies.
At the heart of Records Management is the Public Records Commission which approves the Records Disposition Authorization. This authorization gives official guidance to the cycle of a records series. These unique authorities are dispersed throughout a network of Records Officers representing the varied departments of Metro Government.
The Metro Records Center is an environmentally controlled storage facility housing Metropolitan Government documents in a secure bar-coded system. Access is permitted only by the transferring Department which retains custody up to the records final disposition.
Records Management administers a Secure Destruction program of pulping and recycling across Metropolitan Government to handle the disposition of confidential material.
Best records practice and development is offered through yearly training classes and in-house instruction. Please contact us for any departmental needs in this area.
We look forward to supporting the many Departments and Agencies of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County for the benefit and protection of the citizens we all serve.
