Important: All required fields on the application must be completed. Incomplete applications will be returned.
Renewals will receive a Decal only. Replacement of lost/stolen license plates require the complaint number from a report to local law enforcement.
Issuance of dealer prep plates/decals will begin Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Applications will be processed on a drop off/pick up basis in the order they are received. You will not be able to wait for processing; you will be contacted when your order is ready.
Dealer Plates
- Dealers are required to complete an Application for Dealer Plates. Only listed authorized representatives will be allowed to pick up plates and identification will be verified. It is the responsibility of the dealership or prep service to notify our office of changes in personnel and/or contact information.
- Unless the current license is already on file, the dealership's original Motor Vehicle Commission License must be registered with the County Clerk's Office for a $5 fee. (T.C.A. 55-4-221)
Prep Plates
Dealer's must complete an Application for Dealer Preparation Plates, listing the name, address, and telephone number for all Davidson County Dealerships/Auctions serviced. Submission of your current Business Tax License with an expiration date of May 15, 2025 is required.
Transporter Plates
Submission of your current Business Tax License with an expiration date of May 15, 2025 and a copy of your Liability Insurance along with a completed Application for Dealer Plates is required.
