The Nashville Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (NTERT) provides critical support for public safety communications during major incidents and events—locally, regionally, and even nationwide. By having the team on scene, the Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) can stay focused on its everyday operations.
About NTERT
Formed in 2003, NTERT started with just six members—two supervisors and one manager. Since then, the team has grown to four teams with a total of 36 members, led by four supervisors.
Incidents and Events We Support
NTERT works alongside Metro Nashville Police, Fire Departments, the Office of Emergency Management, and other agencies to handle hundreds of events and emergencies each year. Whether it’s a planned event or an unexpected emergency, NTERT is ready to respond.
Examples include:

Regional and National Deployment
NTERT members are sometimes called to assist other Emergency Communications Centers across the country during natural or man-made disasters. These can include:
- Ice storms
- Wildfires
- Tornadoes
- Hurricanes
By deploying skilled professionals to these hard-hit areas, NTERT helps communities recover more quickly while ensuring critical emergency communications remain up and running.
