The National Weather Service (NWS) put Metro Nashville Davidson County under an Enhanced Severe Thunderstorm Weather Threat for between 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
An Enhanced Severe Thunderstorm Risk is defined as a widespread concentration of low-to-moderate intensity severe thunderstorms. Risks to areas in an Enhanced Risk typically include: The potential for tornadoes, frequent lightning, damaging winds more than 58 mph, and possibly more than 70 mph.
NWS forecast damaging wind gusts of over 60 mph, hail up to 1.5" (ping pong ball sized) and a few tornadoes with a long track strong tornado possible.
It is important you take precautions prior to and during this weather event both at home and when traveling along roadways.
The NWS says now is the time to:
