An educated and trained citizenry is the best defense in any emergency preparedness response and recovery strategy. The Office of Emergency Management can provide you with a wide range of educational opportunities that are available to the general public and first responders, health and safety personnel at the local, state and federal levels. Some of the training programs are restricted to certain groups, such as government employees and public safety personnel, while others are open to the general public. In this section you will find a comprehensive list of disaster preparedness training opportunities that are offered at various times throughout the year.
Exercises
Emergency exercises are an integral part of the emergency management cycle, and its important to ensure all different agencies are aware of exercises being conducted. The Office of Emergency Management keeps tracks of exercises conducted within the county to ensure that collaboration and communication exist across agencies.
If there are any major exercises scheduled for the future, they will be listed here. Please note that just because they are listed doesn't mean they are open for anyone to participate.
If you would like to have your exercise listed here, please email Heidi Mariscal.
Also, if you have a request for OEM to participate/evaluate/observe an exercise, please submit a request form to us.
Please see our Calendar for up to date information on exercises scheduled.
After Action Reports
After Action Reports (AAR's) are the best way to capture lessons learned and best practices after an incident. Nashville follows the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program for all of its reports format.
