The Emergency Management Council is a broad group of Metro, Business and Industry, Civic and Volunteer/Non-Profit representatives, and many others who advise and assist Metro and OEM in administering its duties; including the development of an emergency management plan. The Council is authorized and guided in accordance with Metro Code 2.10.050 in an effort to promote community-wide involvement in emergency management practices.
The representatives, called Emergency Service Coordinators (ESC's), are appointed by their organization and are empowered to represent their organization in the development of plans, policies and procedures relative to emergency management. They also represent their organizations during times of major emergencies and disasters. When activated, they report to the EOC or Command One, the Mobile EOC, to coordinate their organizations response and recovery activities.
ESC's also participate in non-emergency efforts such as:
- Development of the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP)
- Participate in disaster drills/exercises, trainings and community events
- Assist with development on site specific plans including:
- Bridgestone Arena
- LP Field
- Historic Courthouse, Ben West Building and Justice A.A. Birch Building
- Large Special Event Planning
- Urban Search And Rescue (TN Taskforce 2)
This group of ESC's meet on a quarterly basis or more frequently if needed.
