The National Weather Service (NWS) put Metro Nashville Davidson County under a Slight Severe Weather risk, which is a 2 out of 5 on its Severe Weather Scale, Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon. The primary hazard will be damaging winds and heavy rain, but there could also be hail in stronger storms. Timing is from roughly 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Due to the heavy rain localized flooding is possible.
Then another round of rain is forecast to arrive in the area Thursday morning and continue throughout the day.
Multiple days of severe weather are possible including this weekend. The National Weather Service forecasts the tornado threat starts to increase Friday and may last into Monday, Memorial Day.
The impact is expected mainly along and west of I-65 today, but all Middle Tennessee will need to be weather aware through the weekend.
