Metro offers medical coverage to eligible pensioners and their eligible dependents. Pensioners and their covered dependents all who are eligible for Medicare Parts A and B are only eligible for Metro's Medicare Advantage plans. Pensioners who are not Medicare eligible, or cover dependents who are not eligible for Medicare, may choose between the PPO or HRA plan.
Medicare Advantage Plan
Beginning January 1, 2025, Metro will offer Medicare eligible pensioners and their dependents two medical plan choices: the current plan with Humana or a new Medicare Advantage plan with UnitedHealthcare (UHC). Both plans are only available to pensioners and their covered dependents, all of whom have Medicare Parts A and B.
Regardless of which plan you choose, the amount you pay out of pocket for covered medical care and prescriptions will be the same. The two plans do differ in monthly premiums, drug formulary and provider network. With both plans, you are free to use out-of-network providers for covered services as long as the provider accepts Medicare and agrees to bill Humana or UHC. Do not enroll in any other Medicare Advantage plan or Part D plan or you will be disenrolled from Metro's plan.

PPO and HRA Plans
Metro offers two medical options for pensioners without Medicare or who cover dependents without Medicare. Both the PPO and HRA plans are administered by Cigna. Whether you choose the PPO Plan or the HRA Plan, both plans use the same network of providers and drug formulary, but the way the plans pay for benefits differs.
