On Wednesday, Nashville Mayor David Briley will roll up his sleeves and help serve lunch to area youth at Hartman Park Community Center beginning at 12 noon on Wednesday (July 24).
Mayor Briley will work along side the Metro Parks camp employees at Hartman as well as the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Action Commission, Dr. Cynthia Croom.
Metro Action receives funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to administer the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) which provides breakfast and lunch meals to over 80 locations throughout Nashville when school is out. SFSP is a national food program which allows agencies like Metro Action provide meals to camps, churches and other locations where at least 50% of the youth qualify for the free or reduce meals when school is in session.
The Hartman Park Community Center is one of the largest meal sites in Nashville in that approximately 100 youth are provided free breakfast and lunch meals each day.
