Metro Nashville Davidson County Development Services
Introduction
We’re glad you have chosen to build, expand, or improve your home or business in Nashville-Davison County! Getting the necessary permits from Metro Nashville will set you on your way to a successful project. This web page is designed as the “front door” to the process of getting a building permit as well as other related approvals. It does not convey everything you need to know, but it is intended to provide the information you need to get started on the process.
Nashville continues to grow at a record pace with Metro Codes having issued more building permits in 2021 than in any previous year its history. While keeping the area friendly to growth and development, Metro also must administer those legally required processes necessary to protect the safety, health, and environmental conditions of our community. Collectively, these processes are known as “Development Services.” Metro employees are working hard to accomplish these tasks during a period of unprecedented growth for our community. Some of these improvements are in place, but others will take a year or more to design and implement.
Thank you for partnering with us to make Nashville-Davidson County an even better place to live, work, and play!
