On Monday, August 8, Mayor John Cooper will welcome 23 community residents selected as the 2022 Participatory Budgeting Budget Delegates, and thank them for their service. The delegates will review 450 community-submitted project ideas to narrow the ballot to a 25-item list of eligible projects. The public voting on the selected items will start in October.
Participatory budgeting is a chance for communities to decide together how government money is spent on neighborhoods projects benefiting the community.
The 23 Bordeaux and North Nashville residents, who submitted applications to serve as budget delegates, will receive training on their role, including learning the legal, finance and equity specifics of a participatory budgeting project process.
