On Friday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m., the Mayor’s Office of Nightlife will hold a ribbon cutting, welcoming the personal safety support group Red Frogs to Nashville’s downtown entertainment district.
Red Frogs Support Network has been working in collaboration with various stakeholders in downtown Nashville to provide their services to help mitigate some of the risks associated with entertainment precincts.
Through early intervention and harm minimization strategies Red Frogs provide much needed relief and support to venue owners, first responders, and the public. For more than 25 years, the Red Frog Crew has worked across eight countries to support large events or in Nashville’s case, nightly visitors to Broadway and downtown.
“The Red Frogs have proven to be an invaluable partner when it comes to public safety,” said Nightlife Director Benton McDonough. “Whether it’s providing water, helping someone reconnect with their party, or charging a phone; the Frogs provide one more layer of support to make the Entertainment District a safe and memorable experience for all.”
Red Frogs is a non-profit made up primarily of trained volunteers. The group aims to reduce the rates of sexual assault, issues related to alcohol consumption, and drug use with targeted interventions and safe spaces for party-goers.
