Davidson County voting for the August 6 State and Federal Primary and County General Election has already surpassed the total number of votes cast in the August 2016 election. With nine days until Election Day, in-person Early Voting topped 30,000 by noon today and Absentee Ballots have begun to surge into the Election Commission office.
“We reached a milestone for Absentee Ballots yesterday,” said Jeff Roberts, administrator of elections. “For the first time in this election, we received more returned ballots than new requests for an Absentee Ballot. Over 17,000 voted ballots have arrived back at our office. Davidson County voters have heard our message and are mailing their ballots to ensure they arrive by August 6."
“Our Early Voting locations have enjoyed a steady stream of in-person voters, keeping everyone busy," added Roberts. "Historically, the last two days of the schedule are extremely popular, so we encourage voting over the next three days, to avoid potential lines. Today and Thursday, every location will be open until 7 p.m. While the pandemic has caused voting to look a bit different from the past, our voters have gone out of their way to help us make this a safe and successful election.”
In-person Early Voting continues through Saturday, August 1 at all 11 locations across Davidson County. The complete schedule can be found at the Davidson County Elections web site.
