Metro Public Works announced progress on tornado recovery efforts in neighborhoods impacted by the devastating March 3 tornadoes. By the end of the day on Saturday, March 7:
- 60 trucks were out all day collecting curbside debris. Twenty-five of those trucks have a 150 cubic yard capacity. A total of 768 loads of debris have been hauled to the transfer stations so far during this event. Yesterday alone, 208 loads measuring 7,870 cubic yards were hauled.
- 6 trash trucks were out collecting household trash from affected areas. We will add additional trash pick-up capacity as is necessary. 35 tons of trash were collected.
- 15 right-of-way crews were out clearing streets and alleys. A total of 116 roads were initially closed. As of last night, 51 roads had reopened and 65 roads were still closed.
- A total of 60 alleys were impacted, with 45 cleared and 15 waiting to be cleared.
- A total of 72 traffic signals were damaged or lacking power. As of last night, 16 signals are undamaged but awaiting power to be restored and two signals were significantly damaged and awaiting repair.
- 89 signs have been repaired or replaced, with 40 more signs waiting to be replaced when crews can access them.
