Archaeology Intern
The Metropolitan Historical Commission is seeking an intern to assist with archaeological field, laboratory, and administrative work. Working with other Metro Departments, developers, and residents, we preserve archaeological resources in Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County and assess properties for archaeological potential.
This position is open to graduate and undergraduate students. Ideal candidates should be available for a minimum of eight hours a week for the current semester sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is an opportunity to extend this internship into the next semester. This is a non-paying position.
Key Duties:
- Conduct archaeological fieldwork
- Research properties for archaeological potential
- Assist with the analysis of artifacts
- Assist with the processing of artifacts for curation and the processing of records
- Help with the presentation of archaeology at public events and demonstrations
