From an award-winning conference to a sold-out lecture series, the Historical and Historic Zoning Commissions offer a variety of programs to educate and inspire the public.
Since 1981, the Historical Commission and Tennessee State University have partnered to celebrate the contributions of African Americans to Nashville and Tennessee through the annual Nashville Conference on African American History and Culture.
For over forty years, the Historical Commission has recognized outstanding efforts to preserve Nashville’s historic architecture with its annual Preservation Awards.
Other programs include Know Nashville, Lunch-n-Learn brown bag sessions, and various training and informational programs.
Woman’s Suffrage Virtual Tour
Celebrate 100 years of Woman's Suffrage. Tennessee was the crucial state that led to the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment in the summer of 1920, so get ready to walk in the footsteps of the women and men who made history. This tour was written and narrated by Davidson County historian Dr. Carole Bucy. The Woman's Suffrage tour begins at Union Station and ends at the State Capitol with the option to visit an additional stop at Centennial Park.
This free and user-friendly 45 minute tour is available on any device and can be taken in-person or virtually.
