The Nashville Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) is gearing up for a busy weekend of events downtown, with upwards of 100,000 people anticipated to participate in various downtown festivities.
The DEC has coordinated closely with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure unity in communications amongst all stakeholders involved in the major events inclusive of the Nashville Predators playoff series at Bridgestone Arena and Morgan Wallen's concerts at Nissan Stadium.
The events planned for this weekend are just some of the 700+ special events and assignments the DEC works every year.
James Matthews, Public Information Officer for the Nashville Department of Emergency Communications provided the following statement:
"Our top priority is providing residents, visitors, and our partners serving in the field the highest level of service. We encourage everyone to stay informed, remain vigilant, and cooperate with the plans that have been put in place to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. We hope you don't need to call us, but should you have to, know that you will be connected to the best of the best on the other side of the phone."
Key parts of the DEC's preparation include:
- Increased DEC operations staffing levels to maintain timely response and processing of emergency calls and efficient management of communications with our partner agencies.
- Deployment of the Nashville Telecommunicator Emergency Response Team (NTERT) who will be committed to the downtown events to ensure our other call takers and dispatchers can continue with routine operations.
- Continued partnership with law enforcement, fire officials, and other stakeholders.
