Nashville's Civil War Sesquicentennial is a commemoration of our city's Civil War experience. Over five years programs, special tours, and events have taken place around the city that educated audiences of all ages about Nashville’s role during the war as the "Occupied City".
The weekend of December 13, 2014, marked the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Nashville. Events took place all over Nashville to remember what historians have called the "decisive battle in the Western front." This city-wide commemoration included living history demonstrations, special tours and exhibits, and other commemorative events. The day concluded with cannon fire at sunset at various locations.
