Nashville's Civil War Stories
“Nashville’s Civil War Stories: Common People in an Uncommon War” tells Nashville’s Civil War story though the eyes of twelve Nashvillians who represent the many perspectives of the war and its effects on the lives of those in our city. The brochure connects these Civil War stories to 24 Civil War sites, including homes, cemeteries, churches, and schools. Along with several battlefield sites, these are the places where Nashvillians fought to survive and struggled to cope during wartime and the years of Reconstruction. Metro Parks in cooperation with the Middle Tennessee State University Chapter of the Society for Military History presents the Nashville Civil War Roundtable. The Roundtable meets monthly at the Fort Negley Visitors Center and is open to anyone interested in the American Civil War. It offers guest speakers, presentations on a variety of topics, historic site tours, and support for historic presentation. Share your enthusiasm for one of the most pivotal periods of American history in a relaxed and fun environment!
