Special event sponsors must submit a completed:
Special Event ADA Compliance Application
Print the application and fill it in by hand, or fill it in online and then print it (please remember that the printed version still requires a signature). Applying for ADA & Safety Services approval for a special event is free. The application includes pertinent information that event sponsors are responsible for knowing.
Any temporary event held on property owned and/or managed by the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, including a right-of-way is considered a “special event.” A special event may last for many days or may be as brief as a partial day. For any such event, ADA & Safety Services approval is required regardless of whether or not Metro government is an event sponsor. The primary approval prerequisite is that all special events must meet current, Metro-adopted accessibility standards. A failure to meet accessibility standards and ADA & Safety Services approval requirements may result in the withdrawal of approval to use the Metro property for the event.
Special event sponsors are encouraged to submit the application referenced above and obtain documentation of approval well before an event— at minimum, on or before any event set-up impacting accessibility in the immediate area, or the first day of the event itself, whichever is first. Obtaining approval in advance will allow time for any changes required for compliance with ADA standards and help to ensure a successful event. ADA & Safety Services staff understand that events have varying circumstances and operating budgets and will be happy to assist in finding possible solutions to any accessibility issues identified.
Relay Service
7-1-1 Relay Service allows people with hearing or speech disabilities who use text telephones or teletypewriters (TTYs) to have telephone conversations with people who do not have TTYs. Dialing 7-1-1 works whether or not the person placing the call is using a TTY since communications assistants use voice and TTY. The confidential service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and local calls are free of charge, however long distance toll charges may apply.
Internet Protocol or IP Relay Service offers a communication alternative for people with hearing or speech disabilities who have an Internet connection. Local and long distance communications by IP Relay Service are free of charge. The service can be accessed at: T-Mobile IP Relay Service.
