About the Postal Services Division
General Services operates the mail system for Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. The mail system is an efficient, centralized process for handling both U.S. mail and messenger mail. Postal Services provides pick-up/delivery service once each business day at 130 mail stops within a ten-mile radius of the historic courthouse.
Incoming U.S. mail to Metro officials and agencies must be addressed to the Metro P.O. Box, and Postal Services picks-up the mail from the Broadway Post Office at 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. each business day. Carriers sort and deliver both the U.S. mail and interdepartmental mail on a fixed schedule.
Postal Services offers sealing, metering and customized discount bulk mailing for certain types of outgoing Metro mail, and the unit is responsible for examining all outgoing U.S. mail to determine the appropriate class and applying proper postage. Currently, over 100 accounts are established for mailing charges.
