In 2016, Fire Station 19 was the first fire station in the entire Southeast U.S. to receive LEED® Platinum certification. Then, in June 2017, it was selected to receive the 2017 Governors Environmental Stewardship Award in the "Building Green" category. This facility that houses the city's first responders 24/7 has several innovative features and has set the bar for future Nashville city buildings.

- 16% recycled content in building materials (by cost)
- 31.85% regional materials used (by cost, regionally manufactured and raw materials extracted)
- Use of low-emitting materials for all adhesives, paints, carpet systems and composite wood materials
